Hello MacRumors community,

Eventually, I'll be compelled to migrate to macOS Monterey on my Mac Pro 2013. Currently, I'm on macOS Mojave.

I want to set up a "dual boot" option.

Does anybody have any recommendations for an external SSD? I would use this for a complete clone of the current internal SSD (macOS Mojave, applications, data, etc.) The internal SSD would then have macOS Monterey installed on it.

Any suggestions, recommendations, comments, etc. are greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
richmlow

there
a western digital external drive backs up my 2010 MacBook air since 2013 without any problems.
so i purchased another one this year which works great!

as far as duel boot, that might not work,
I think Monterey is AFT? format only while Mojave is OS journaled, but i hope i am wrong.
i read that here and on apple websites this year.
some will correct me or agree soon!

Thank you for your reply.

BTW, I don't mean "dual boot" from the same drive. I just want to be able to use macOS Mojave (external SSD) or macOS Monterey (internal SSD), depending on the situation at hand.
