Since I haven't been able to find a way to print out my playlists I downloaded the Spotify Mac App and will doing the transition manually on my iPhone to avoid switching back and forth between both apps.. Luckily for me I don't have hundreds of songs in Spotify so it won't be too long, I can imagine some people will have a much bigger task than I.

If an updated iTunes with Apple Music also launches tomorrow I may also do it the other way around.

How to you plan your transition? (Please avoid commenting on how you will be staying with Spotify for X, Y or Z reason, that's not what this threads about.)

Great question. Apple's gonna need to make it easy for folks like my kids with huge Spotify playlists to consider switching. Wouldn't be surprised if a tool emerges once things go live tomorrow.

I was/am planning to use two devices and manually search and create on Apple Music. I have a few playlists on Spotify that are a bit of a mess so it's cleanup time. I will make new folders and better organize. I think.

At minimum I will make a new list with the same songs then sort.

I've got over a dozen playlists with a couple hundred songs each on Spotify that I'll hate to completely abandon. I plan to keep paying Spotify during the Apple trial period until I decided if it is worth switching. If I do switch, I imagine I'll remake the lists manually using my iPhone and iPad. Fortunately your Spotify playlists don't get deleted when you cancel your premium paid account, so it doesn't need to be done immediately.

I hope a tool comes out as I have so many playlists that it would be a pain to migrate

I'm starting fresh and making new playlists.

This. I love spotify but time to start fresh with Apple music. I'll probably add my standard artists I love like Lana Del Rey and Future Islands. The rest I'll let Apple impress me.

OK so I had the same issue and found a hack / solution to get your Spotify playlists to Apple Music.

1. Sign up for the free Beats Music trial - not sure how much time will be left before they migrate this to Apple Music so do it quick.
2. Go to http://www.beatsimporter.com. You can try to link your Spotify account, but for me, not all of my playlists showed up in the drop down menu. As an alternative:
3. Export your Spotify playlist by highlighting all the songs in the list, copy and paste into an Excel spreadsheet at the first row/column.
4. In Excel, highlight the first column and use the text to columns feature under the Data section.
5. Choose delimited.
6. Use comma. Data format is general. Hit finish.
7. Now it separates everything into columns. Delete all columns except for song name, artist name, album name.
8. Rename the columns according to the Beatsimporter spec: SongName, ArtistName, AlbumName.
9. I had issues getting the .CSV from Excel recognized by Beats Importer, so just save it as a .CSV for now.
10. Open the .CSV in TextEdit, duplicate and save as UTF-8 encoded in the drop down to fix this.
11. Go back to Beatsimporter and upload this new file.

Since Beats playlists will be migrated to Apple Music, they should carry over.

Also I just checked the site and it seems they're encountering bandwidth issues so not sure how relevant this tip will be! Hope it helps someone.

Soundiiz might work in the future. Most of the playlists on Spotify that I have are actually Spotify's recommendations, not my personal ones (those are on iTunes), although they do have nice tracks.

Neonfox, thanks lots for the post! It sounds like a slog but a hell of a lot better than doing it manually which will take too much manpower hours. I'm still hoping for a tool. Keep this thread floating with ideas and workarounds

Every time I try this, it just pastes the links... Any idea why?

I saw this on 9to5Mac yesterday but decided to go manual so I could look through my lists. The interface on my 6+ was a little laggy but it kept up. I did two lists of about 110 songs each in about a half hour and cut out some songs I didn't listen to. I decided to skip the other lists because they were getting stale with the idea to make new playlists with better sorting. If a tool was ready I would have used it but manual if you try was not that bad. The search tool worked very well.

Ah so you have to select the tracks / select all, then DRAG to Excel. They did something to their copy / paste that only copies the URIs now. The drag drop method at least gives you the track title & artist name, so you can use "-" as the delimiter to split the columns into SongName and ArtistName.

Anyhow seeing as the Beats API is down, there's no point in trying this method.

Maybe when Apple updates iTunes for Mac it will support import of .csv playlists even if the files aren't in the local library.

I'm not sure if your trolling or being serious... You do know we're talking about the content and not about how to subscribe?

Actually, that is probably exactly what I'll do. Rather than try and figure out what music I had on Spotify and get that music on Apple Music, I most likely will just begin listening and go from there.

So Bitten Apple's comment does work for me:

1. Cancel Spotify

2. Sign up for Apple Music
