Did a clean install of 10.11.4 this morning, have been moving things over but am having an issue with Notes.

When I migrated from Mavericks to Yosemite, I took the 3 NotesV3.storedata files from ~/Library/.../notes/ and copied them over. I don't recall exactly, but I think simply moving them, changing the filenames and relaunching the app was all it took.

With El Cap, I'm having no such luck with the filename change. My notes data is still in the raw file output in TextEdit but the app doesn't recognize it.

Are there any suggestions? Thanks

Made slight progress, found another location which had to be emptied out as well, ~/Library/Group Containers/..., cleared the 3 files in there as well. So 6 files in trash, restarted to make sure they weren't in use, emptied trash. Then I copied over the 3 storedata files from Yosemite into ~/Library/Containers/... and started Notes. I saw the system change the filenames of each from V4 to V6, then Notes launched but it was just totally blank. Couldn't create a new note, folder or anything. Relaunching made it functional, but blank. So it seems that the system is trying to convert the old note format but gets hung on something. o_O
