I changed my MacBook Air. I use Outlook 2011 with an Exchange account of my company and a personal IMAP account. I have several local folders where I store old emails.

To migrate, I removed both the Exchange and IMAP accounts from the old computer. So Outlook only has the local folders with he archived emails.

I exit Outlook and copy the "Office 2011 Identities" directory to and external drive. The archived emails are quite a lot, so the size of the directory is almost 40GB.

On the new computer, I have already installed Outlook 2011 and updated it. So I replace the "Office 2011 Identities" folder with the one from the old computer. Then, before opening Outlook, I rebuild the Identity with the Microsoft Database Utility. It takes a while since the Identity is 40GB in size.

I then open Outlook just to find the archived folders are not there. I have repeated the procedure with little twists here and there but have been unable to make it work.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to move the Identity folder NOT the entire Office 2011 Identity folder with the local folders again to the new Mac. Make sure it has a different name than Main Identity.

You can select to "Switch Identity" to view the old mail or you can add your Exchange and IMAP accounts the the transferred Identity with the old mail.

Considering the size of your archives, you might want to move them to Apple Mail for easy access. This will keep Outlook from getting too large and slow.

Rebuilding often results in lost or missing data. the new Outlook 2016 doesn't have a rebuild option. It also uses a different database than Outlook 2011.
