Migration Assistant cannot connect to Synology Time Machine Folder

I’m stuck restoring my Time Machine Backup from a synology disk station. I can see the Backup server in the “Transfer Information to This Mac” screen but when I press continue nothing happens. Also “looking for other sources“ keeps spinning.

what can I do?

I installed without backup to check connection and I can mount the Backup folder without problems and access the data from Finder.

After your install without backup, can you start migration assistant and transfer your data that way (I am assuming your are trying to restore from recovery mode and that is not working)?

You have to manually enter the network path, for example SMB://NAS/TMbackup/ and then login when asked
