Just got an 11" MBA today (Love it!). I used migration assistant to sync it with my iMac and it worked perfectly. My question is can I load movies/DVD's onto the iMac and then use migration assistant or another way to transfer them to the MBA with out getting an external reader? I bought a super drive that I haven't opened yet, and I am wondering if I even need it?

OK, I tried this and it shows up on the air, but when I click copy, nothing happens. It shows the dvd but says Zero KB available. Telling it to copy the DVD does not work.
If you're going to be keeping your iMac around for the foreseeable future then you don't really need the Super Drive as you can burn discs and use Remote Disc with your iMac if you need to. It's entirely up to you but personally I would save some cash and not have a Super Drive, you can always get one in the future should you need to.
Well so far disc share does not seem to work. I have DVD's that I would like to write to the memory of the air so I don't have to carry a drive. From what I have read, movies won't work via dvd share, just software dvds work.

Really? I'm surprised movies don't work? Well you could rip the movies on the iMac via something like Handbrake and then copy the encoded file onto the Air? It would take up a lot less space too. I think that's your only option without using an External drive...
I would think it would be much easier to turn on sharing on both computers, then once the movie is loaded onto the iMac to simply drag it over to the MBA.
