I am in the process of switching to a Mac Pro from a MacBook Pro. Both are running Big Sur (11.1 Mac Pro / 11.0.1 MacBook Pro).

After using Migration Assistant from the most recent Time Machine backup, the Mac Pro is using 3x the hard drive space that the laptop was. (474.07 GB vs 131.36 GB) Is there a way to solve this issue? I'd clearly rather not have just lost 340 GB of space on my drive.

Thanks, in advance.

Well, migration assistant pretty much just "moves over" the apps, accounts and data that was on the other drive.

How much space were such things taking up on the Mac Pro?

The Mac Pro drive had just been wiped. Nothing but MacOS and it's associated stuff.

Was that what was on the tm backup, as well?
Were there previous tm backups that might have had additional data?

Nothing more on it. Just the info from the laptop.
