Migration question

My new iMac (27" i9 vega48 ITB SSD 8GB memory for upgrade later) just arrived and I will be setting it up over the weekend.

On my old (late 2009 27" 2.8Ghz i7 running OS 10.13.6) iMac, Safari has been taken over by some persistent malware that I have been unable to exorcise - the home page and search engine default to Yahoo. It's a minor irritation in the scheme of things but I would like not to transfer the irritation over with set up/migration assistant.

Any advice gratefully received.

Have you run both Malwarebytes and Etrecheck on the old iMac?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I ran malware bytes previously and installed and ran the free version of Etrecheck on your advice just now. Malware bytes told me I was clean. Etrecheck didn't diagnose any major problems and found some unsigned files which it thinks are all 'probably ok' (they all look legit from their names).

Why not just do a clean install? It’s always a good opportunity to asses what crap you have on your HD you don’t really need.

Lol. I can relate! I just buy a bigger hard drive each time!

Laziness won out and I went for the migration assistant. After that, nearly an hour with support from Adobe to get creative cloud back up and running. I think he downloaded three separate software tools and changed permissions on three or four folders as well as other stuff I couldn’t follow. Certainly nothing I could have done myself with may low level of tech expertise. Other CC users my want to go the way of clean install!
