Hi!

I’m considering getting the space black milanese loop for my space gray aluminium watch. The sport loop is nice, but it doesn’t breathe as much as I’d like it to, and if it gets wet it takes quite some time to dry and when wet it’s kinda chafing a bit. I also really like the look of the milanese loop. I kinda wish there would be a GPS stainless at a lower cost for those of us who don’t care about cellular, but I’m not spending the money on a stainless as it is now.

My concern is that the DLC on the space black milanese seems to be very abrasive, and even with careful handling I’m concerned that the aluminium body may scratch where it loops around the bottom lug.

Anyone using the milanese with an aluminium  watch, and how is it holding up? Useful things to know is how long you have used the combination for, how careful you are when handling it, and if there are scratches photos would be appreciated.

Is it crazy to consider spending $150 to risk scratching my apple watch?

I can’t speak to owning the Milanese loop with the aluminum watch, as I have not read anyone with that combination yet. But the only advice I can offer, is when you’re not wearing the watch, lay the watch on its side, where the band will not come in contact with the watch, versus if you lay the watch flat, it will obviously come into contact with the milanese loop, because the band collapses. If you follow those simple steps, that shouldn’t be an issue where the band will scratch the watch, you just have to be mindful of how you’re not using it when it’s off your wrist.

no scratches with any of the space grey milanese bands that I owned "not black" and I always bought them off Amazon not the  ones because they look the same to me.

The Amazon third-party Black Milanese loops do not include a DLC coating like Apples does, so therefore it would _not_ necessarily scratch the Apple Watch at the level that OEM black Milanese loop would.

Thanks!

Of course I would be careful not to let the band come in contact with the watch when not having it on, but I'm concerned that it may come in contact when adjusting and putting it on/taking it off. I have seen a photo of a stainless watch that had scratches from the band where it looped around the lug. While it could be polished on a stainless it would create irreversible damage to aluminum.

I'm not interested in third party bands unless they are from a well known and responsible brand that care about things like nickel and chemical content. I also think the Apple milanese loop will last longer, ironically due to the same reason it poses a greater scratch risk, the coating.

I know some use the aluminum/milanese combination so I'm curious to hear how it holds up over time

I have the Space Grey aluminum S3 & S4 with the Apple milanese loop.

I haven't noticed any scratches, but then I'm relatively careful.

Thank you for your input!
Do you have the space black milanese loop? It seems much more likely to scratch
