I've had Apple watches for a long time now, the first one I had was fitted with a Milanese loop, and even to this day I still think it was the nicest to wear and also great looking over every strap I've ever used.

I ordered a Product Red S7 45mm yesterday, my DTK credit had been sitting there since I returned the unit and I already replaced the DTK with another machine before I received the credit, after seeing the apple event I knew I was going to upgrade from my S5, the blood oxygen sensor was something that was a selling point, I have a number of chronic health issues and I use the various sensors to just keep a general eye on things if I'm feeling a little unwell. I was seeing a lead time where the watch wouldn't ship before the start of December, I then checked availability at my local Apple store and couldn't believe that it was available for pickup today.

It seems that the Milanese loop isn't really in favour anymore with Apple, I just did a quick mock-up of my watch body and replaced the strap with the Milanese loop which I then modified the colour of to match the case, it's just confined that I'd really love it in that colour.

I ordered it with the Sport Band, the product red strap for the S7 is two-tone which I didn't like, I would have gone for it if it was just plain red.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like and would definitely buy a Milanese loop if it were available in the product red range.

Problem is that Apple only ever did Milanes Loops in the colours of the Stainless Steel Watches. Can‘t imagine that will change in the future.

Yeah, I guess the main reason would be that the closing mechanism would be a little tricky with a metal that didn't contain iron, and it needs to be aluminium to have the same colour/appearance. I guess there would be ways around it, but it would substantially increase the complexity.

It's a shame really because you could size it to be perfect, if your watch is annoying you, then you can make it loose by a mm, or 5, or 10 or.... That was the real beauty of the strap.

I also bought an amazon copy just out of curiosity and to be honest, there was zero difference in quality - just a big difference in price. If a third party produced a strap in a matching shade, I'd have no problem pulling the trigger on it.

The graphite Milanese looks great with a Starlight. I couldn’t be happier. I think it looks good because the band matches the black of the screen. It’s better to have a contrasting color to the case rather than a similar color for Milanese loops paired with aluminum in my opinion.

yup, I’m pretty careful but it seems unlikely that the band will touch my screen the way I put it on and off unless I’m really careless. In general, I don’t let it touch the front or back of my watch. I’m expecting general scratches, however, which doesn’t bother me. My main gripe with the Milanese loop is that it’s not water resistant and the compass doesn’t work with it (a feature i love). So I use the nike rubber sports band as my default, and the milanese for social events.
