Minecraft performance on Retina 4k iMac?

What kind of performance can I expect out of the Retina 4k iMac playing Minecraft? I'm thinking about getting it for my parents, and my niece likes to play Minecraft. I understand playing at 4k would be a slideshow, but what about 1080p?

The 5k is out of the question as it would be way too big for the space.

Minecraft looks almost exactly the same at default resolution as it does at 4k. I run minecraft at default resolution under Java8 at 120fps. Retina 4k iMac will rock some minecraft.

The 4k iMac should be more than powerful enough for Minecraft. People are even running it at 60 frames/second on a 2010 MacBook Pro.

Wanted to give an update on the Minecraft experience on this machine. Running at 2048x1152, I get over 60fps consistently. Running it at the native 4k resolution causes it to really chug, though. Tops out at about 37fps. Good stuff
