hi everyone, i just bought in ebay a mac mini 1.83 c2d, 17in monitor and a printer all for £215.. worth it ?? (it also came with a very nice keyboard and remote) :p

now my problem with the mini is that the slot loading drive (i think) doesn't seem to work.. i tried putting a dvd into it, but it wont bite.. do i have to force the dvd inside it? or it's like if you put a dvd into it,and it will automatically detect the dvd and like swallow it?.. :p (it's my first mini so i dont know what to expect..

thanks.. :p

You shouldn't have to "force" it in, if you feel that it's not going in without obstruction then something could be jamming it. But you stick it in fairly far before the drive itself sucks it in the rest of the way, for me it activates when there's about an inch of the disc itself still sticking out.

I've found you to have to push any media quite far into the drive before it'll detect there is one there and then suck it in. But you shouldn' thave to use any force

If you want to replace it, the easiest way would be to get one of the MacBook Air/Mac mini Server external drive, take it to pieces and swap the one inside the Mac mini.
