Hi,
I used my mac mini as my music/movie/photo centre connected via HDMI to a yamaha 1067 amp which outputs to a TV.
What I would like to do is have access through to music via the iPhone remote app to play music through the amp without having to login or turn the TV on. Whilst the mini is asleep the remote app can find my iTunes library (wake the mini), play a song (which comes through the amp/speakers). The problem is that it will only play for 20-30 seconds and then the HDMI connection is lost.
The strange thing is that if I access the mini via screen share on my laptop I can play music without the drop over HDMI. I don't think the problem is with the amp since with screen share everything works fine. I can also force the HDMI signal to come back after a minute or so by fast forwarding to the next track using the remote.
The same thing also happens if I use the Apple remote (the physical one) to start playing a track. I think the problem is that upon waking from sleep the mini is at the password/login screen and this interferes with the HDMI which I can get round my logging in using the laptop.
Anyone have any bright ideas? I don't want to have to use my laptop or turn the TV and login to keep the HDMI going!
Thanks, PJ
