Mini 2014 video review

Video says the audio output supports optical, like previous Minis. But I thought it was confirmed that's not the case?

Yes, I know about that (I have one). BTW that one you linked to is garbage. Connection on the optical side always comes loose. I recommend the version from Monoprice, instead.

What I'm saying is even with the correct adapter, there is no optical audio output from the headphone jack. The Apple support page for the 2014 seems to validate this.

I don't know about that Amazon link being good, I'm just saying that is what the optical connection is and Monoprice always has better product.

There are headphones made with an optical connection you can attach to the connector. Another way is to connect to an amp or receiver.
