Hi all,

asking for more advice :)

tomorrow my mini and keyboard/mouse arrive from apple. my monitor will not show up until later in the week, before which i have to leave town for a few weeks.

i would like to get the mini up just enough to make sure it is not DOA, but i have no monitor.

i do have a tibook (dvi) and a plain old tv (no fancy hookups, just the old red, white, yellow plugs). would the this tv work as a monitor? could i use the screen of my powerbook (somehow i doubt this)?

any suggestions, or should i just try to get a date, show up with my mini, hijack her monitor, and ruin any chances...?

Your tv will work as a monitor, but you need the Apple DVI to Video Adapter.
No, you can't use the powerbook screen.

Hijack a monitor.

well you'll be able to turn it on, hear the start up sound. I would take it to a friends house, as its free and you don't need to buy anything(buying something else will take more time)

Yeah, I agree. Take it to a friends house. No need to buy anything. It probably isn't DOA but its good to check.
