I have an old iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) and I wanted to use the screen with my new MacBook Air latest model. Can anyone show me which cord would work? will this one ?

USB C to Mini DisplayPort Cable(Not Thunderbolt 2)

The 2009 iMac should appear as a normal display when you press Command-F2 on the iMac.
It shouldn't matter what OS version is on the host/source Mac.
I have used Thunderbolt Target Display Mode with macOS Monterey but that was on an Intel Mac as the source - maybe an M1 Mac will have different behavior but it seems to me that DisplayPort Target Display Mode should be much simpler than Thunderbolt so it should be more likely to work.
