Mini Display Port ?

I am looking at 2009-2010 Mini's to use a my HTPC. I am looking at going with a 2009 model they have the DVI & Mini Display port. Can I get audio out from the Mini Display port?

On my 2010 MBA I use a mini display port to HDMI adapter to hook up to my tv & I get audio out. If this will not work on the 2009 models I'll find a 2010.
