I was just thinking that is is possible to hook up my PS3 to my iMac (2009) with Mini DisplayPort adapter to DVI and Belkin HDMI to DVI cables. I got 32" Sony Bravia at home but in summer when I'm at cottage I'd like to play my PS3 with my iMac.

So is it possible? With 720p/1080p?
Not possible, at least not in that way. The display port on the iMac is output only, and what you are looking for is input. There are some alternatives, such as tv tuner usb cards, but you may be sacrificing quality to go that route.

So with that I could run my PS3 at 1080p on my iMac finely? This is the adapter you mean?

No. The response was thinking that you wanted to hook up your iMac to your TV not that you wanted to hook something into your mac. There is no way to plug something directly into your mac. You can get a capture card for the mac through USB but it will lag.

Okay, thanks. I'll pick up 22" HDTV for 199€ tomorrow.

Monoprice is actually making a single adapter for said purpose.

hey tallest, i was just going to start a thread to ask about this. Have you heard anything as far as their progress on releasing said adapter? I feel like I've been hearing about their release for a while now. I guess they are our only hope right now so no choice but to wait for them. I don't really see apple releasing one since their monitors don't have HDMI input.

Yeah your looking at a analogue input. Get a TV for PS3 gaming goodness.

I already got, 32" HD ready Sony Bravia. This was mainly for summers when I'm at cottage and there's no HDTV. And as I said, I picked up 22" HD ready TV for 200€
