I don't know has this been covered already but I've seen people asking about it. I got my MBA earlier today and thought I would give my adapter a try. So yes, it does support audio which is at least for me a great piece of news :)

I'll ask mods to remove this if there is already a thread about this

So is there a specific type of Minidisplay port to HDMI adapter I should be using if i want to have both video and audio from the same cable? Thanks, and I shop mostly on Monoprice if that helps.

Usually the adapters that support audio specifically state that they do. Unfortunately Monoprice adapter doesn't support audio as of yet. FYI, I have this adapter and it works flawlessly

Yeah, it works fine. I bought a generic adapter on a street market some months ago to use with my old MacBook and Samsung display and tested with the MBA last week: clear sound and image. :)
