Mini DisplayPort Issues

I run a 30" monitor that requires Dual-Link DVI.

Monoprice doesn't sell a Mini DisplayPort - Dual-Link DVI adaptor. Seems like Apple is the only selling it, but at $99, Apple's adaptor is too expensive. Are there other places to get one?

Can I use the Dual-Link DVI adaptor with a regular DVI monitor? Would it work?

You need the $99 adaptor to get Dual-Link DVI. The only other option is a MDP to DisplayPort cable, if you have a monitor like the 3008WFP with a display port connector.
