When I plug my Intel iMac into our old Sony Trinitron via the S-Video input no connection can be made. Is this a problem with leopard not recognizing my TV or possibly something else?
If it is a new computer (Last 6 months or so) They stopped supporting the mini-dvi to video converter. Wish they told me that before we ordered 100 macbooks that are used mainly to output powerpoint to TVs.
It's not a new iMac. Currrently I'm running the '07 model. 2.4 gHz 24'' with version 10.5.7 don't know if it might have been
in an update, but a guy that I spoke to on the phone from Apple couldn't figure it out either.
I'm having the same problem. My 50" Samsung DLP doesn't show up. I have it hooked up to via Mini-DVI to HDMI and nothing happens when I plug it in nor does anything happen when I click detect displays. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I got mine hooked up to my Sammy DLP too. You shouldn't have a problem with that because I assume that you are using a dvi to hdmi cable.
indg is right when he says to hit the detect displays button. That and simply restarting the computer are the steps I would take.
I see this problem a lot. I also see where some times you only get certain colors going out. Apple of course says there is no problem. I think that the contacts on the mini dvi connection get worn down both on the adapter and in the computer. In my experience you can change the adapter and get it to work again but eventually the contacts in the computer get to worn.
At least apple switched to the mini display port (something they didn't design)
I am using a mini dvi to HDMI adapter. Should I have gone Mini DVI to DVI to HDMI? That would be ridiculous to need 2 adapters. I've tried all combinations of unplugging and shutting off the tv and computer. There is no connection of any kind registering on either the TV or the Computer. I spent 2 hours messing with it last night with no success.
