MINI DVI TO DVI LAG (24inch)

Hey guys, any help would be great.

I basically i have a iMac 24 inch with a nvidia 8800 and i also have a dell 24 inch which is hooked up using the mini dvi to dvi. It works, however is laggy and shows it when moving windows etc. It's kinda of very annoying.

Why does it do this?

How do i fix it?

Do i need to get something else?

How much RAM do you have in the system. The lag is not likely due to the card, but could be disk caching when switching between apps. More RAM will mean less disk access for multiple windows open.

2GB, i don't think that's the cause, because it does it with only 1 thing open. No lag shows on the imac display just the secondary.

Maybe 1920 x 1200 is a bit much for the mini dvi to dvi adapter to handle?

The adapter's just a passthrough of a dvi signal, it wouldn't introduce lag. What graphics card do you have in your iMac? To be honest, this sounds a bit odd. Are you sure you're not imagining it? What does it look like? By 'lag', what exactly do you mean and how can you tell?

I have a nvidia 8800 in my iMac. I am pretty sure I'm not imaging it

By lag i mean slow moving windows etc and effect's slow.

Sounds like your second display might be faulty.

Just had a quick research on the Dell 2408wfp, i think you could be right. Allot going on about it suffering from input lag.
