Does anyone else feel the mini 6’s keyboard is unnecessarily large? It blocks half the screen!

Especially annoying as Apple have apparently decided to prioritise landscape mode on the new Mini due to the scrolling issue in portrait…I prefer the typing experience in portrait mode as I can actually see what I’m typing.

Thank you. I've been using this mini in landscape mostly. Using it in portrait alleviates the keyboard issue to a satisfactory level. I'll have to get used to using it in portrait for typing. That or using the floating keyboard as a poster above recommended.

I think the floating keyboard with swipe typing is a sublime way of typing while holding the mini in one hand.

Yes it is large. Similar situation on the 11" iPad Pro which also has a high(ish) aspect ratio. Can be annoying for filling in fields on a web page. For this, try switching to the floating keyboard (hold down the keyboard hide button, bottom right of keyboard, or pinch in on the keyboard)
Thank you. I’ve not had an iPad in a while, and was as a loss for how to get the keyboard option. I was trying for a gesture to split it, but couldn’t find one. hah

On the iPad Mini you can either split or float the keyboard, not sure if you discovered this.

On larger iPads you can only float the keyboard (not sure why).

One thing i really liked about android tablets (and was disappointed with when i bought an ipad) is being able to change the keyboard size. Ipads offer huge and tiny. Would love the option to customise or even just a third medium size
