Mini Mac Hard Drive Damaged

Hello,
This is my first post here and I am new to Mac's but own a I Mac, 2 Mini Mac's and 3 i Pad 1,2 & 3. My one Mini Mac Mid 2010 2.4 GHz had some issue and finally crashed. I tried to reinstall the OS X Snow Leopard but keep getting errors on the install. I erase the drive and verify comes up ok, but when I repair the Hard it comes up with several unused node in red which I assume are problems on the hard drive. I just ordered a 120GB SSD to replace the 320GB hard drive that came with the mini. I just want to make sure what the procedure is to get Snow Leopard on the new SSD once it arrives.

You insert the HDD via one of the guides on iFixIt or YouTube, then insert the grey Restore DVD and boot from it via holding down the C key after pressing the power button.
Once inside the installer: Guide on how to use Disk Utility from the restore / installation DVD, then How to format a new HDD to install Mac OS X onto (or make a bootable copy onto)

Btw, it is called iMac, Mac mini and iPad.
