Mini Mac wont display 1280x800 in widescreen?

Hi guys,
I hope you can help.
As per the title, my Mini Mac won’t display 1280x800 properly; I have black borders on either side.
It’s like it is setting it for 4:3.
I know the max res on my Emachines 15" is 1280x800, as I have 3, 2 are using a PC.
I have tried Switchresx and it was terrible.
Any ideas please?
