It would not surprise Me if the mini supports 8gb like the iMac. But at the $1000 extra apple is charging for the 8gb option, that puts the mini to within $700 of a quad pro, with larger hd, etc. The only benefit of mini is form factor in limited space.

Though memory is cheaper third party. For me, if I want a high memory desktop I probably would choose another apple.
