Hey everybody,

My friend is test-driving my mini in hopes of buying it from me and he managed to get it to not boot. It chimes and then goes to the white screen with the Apple logo. I tried on number of the usual keyboard commands. I was able to reset the PRAM to no avail. I would just boot from the OS X cd, but another cd is already in there and holding down the mouse won't eject it. None of the other keyboard commands I tried work (safe mode, single user mode). Just for kicks I tried booting off the CD that was in the there and I got a different, grey screen. So it appears that would work if I could get the CD out.

Lastly, when exactly are you supposed to press they keyboard commands, because that could be part of my problem. Right when the chime starts? during? right after?

It's still under warranty so I can take it to Apple, but obviously I'd like avoid the hassle if possible.

Thanks,
Dave

Got it figured out. My wireless USB mouse wouldn't work to eject the CD. I used a regular corded one and was able to get the other cd out and the OS X CD in.

This thread can be deleted/wasteland/whatever.

Haha, yes, thank you. The hard drive died without warning. Hence a lot of the bootup shortcuts wouldn't work. At least I was in the process of selling it so I just gotten all my data off.
