Mini won't sleep automatically

I recently purchased a WD My Book Studio II 2TB external drive for my iTunes library. I currently have it connected via the FW 800 port on my late 2009 Mac Mini (purchased Apr 2010). Ever since connecting the drive, the Mini now will not follow my Energy Pref's and auto Sleep. The external drive will go to sleep, but the Mini just stays on. I tried reseting NVRAM, rebooted, unplugged power etc, but nothing changes it. Anyone else experience this or know how to resolve? Thanks

You could try to reset the PMU.

Pretty simple on the mini.

Basically-

• Shut down.
  
• Unplug everything.
  
• Wait 10 secons.
  
• Plug in the power cord WHILE holding the power button on the back.
  
• Release power button.
  
• Press power button to start.
  
• Enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately nothing changed. External drive goes to sleep, but Mini stays on. Any other ideas? Thanks.
