miniDVI-->DVI or miniDVI--> VGA ??

I will buy a macbook soon and I want connect my dell2005fpw with it so I will buy an adapter, but I am not sure what option select(dvi or vga) because both are supported by the LCD.

I know that DVI is better that VGA but in the "real" world many electronics only have the VGA option.

Is it really a big difference between the video quality ot this adapters??

Get miniDVI to DVI. It's better and costs the same. DVI is digital, and VGA is analog.

I have used both connections with that monitor and didn't see any difference. I'm not an FPS gamer, so maybe I missed some minor differences, but nothing stood out to me.

If you can't see the difference between VGA and DVI, your LCD must suck or your eyes are getting bad. There is a very big difference in the crispness of the image.

I really have to disagree. I saw no such difference, and my eyes don't suck. Maybe your monitor sucks. My point is just that the VGA isn't a bad choice if the OP expects that he'd connect it to other VGA devices in the future. I'd personally get the DVI.

Major difference here between DVI and VGA from a MDD G4 tower to a Dell 2005FPW and to a Sharp 19" LCD. Characterised by a sotness around the edge of text and graphics when in VGA.

Huge difference when using VGA compared to DVI on my 2005FPW. Everything looks so much more crisp and clean with the DVI image. DEFINITLY go with the DVI.

If you expect to frequently make presentations on other people's equipment (monitors, projectors), I'd get both. Keep the DVI adaptor permanently attached to your LCD monitor. Keep the VGA adaptor in your laptop case.

That's what I do.

(Anyone remember back in the day when BOTH adaptors were INCLUDED with your laptop purchase? Ah well...)

I ordered the DVI bridge, and I will buy a DVI to vga converted (plug). Best of both worlds!

A DVI-> VGA adapter won't work with the mini-DVI->DVI adapter. The DVI adapter doesn't have the analogue pins in it and so you can't extract a signal from it

I can attest to the mini dvi -> vga making the image soft at least on my macbook to my 19 inch lcd it does. Not sure when I'll be able to get my hands on the mini-dvi -> dvi adapter.
