Minimise Fullscreen

Hello,

I wonder why there is no option to minimise a fullscreen window and whether Apple would consider enabling this. Also what are others thoughts on this?

Personally I can't see any reason not to have a minimise button in fullscreen mode whether people use it or not.

I realise that previous OS X did not allow minimising of fullscreen mode windows, however seeing as it is being integrated with the green traffic light/zoom button then why not also allow the yellow minimise option.
It seems fiddly and silly to require leaving fullscreen mode simply to minimise a window.

Obviously you can use spaces and mission control however why not keep it uniform. Also I imagine it would be less fiddly for newcomers to mac and those who do not tend to use "spaces."

I realise that, however I was interested to also hear peoples thoughts and whether this has been a feedback suggestion that has already been widely reported.

For the same reason you can't resize a full-screen window or minimize the desktop I guess? A full-screen window it exists in its own dedicated space. Hence you can't minimize it to another space. You can already hide it completely from sight by switching Space. Not sure what purpose minimizing would serve.

the whole idea about "minimizing a window" is to make the desktop more clear and easy-to-click for another apps you are using and to make sure the app don't cover other app's windows. if the application is in fullscreen it won't screw up with others so minimizing makes no point.

Well you can press the green button which will resize a fullscreen making it smaller / exiting fullscreen. You can also minimise a large window fitting the screen but not fullscreen.

If for no other purpose why not make it uniform. However I am sure some people don't use spaces, prefer to minimise, new to mac etc.

If they allow spaces and minimise functions to exist together then why not let them both exist together for all windows, not just most.

While I can see where you are coming from, I don't really see any reason not to have a functioning minimise button whether it gets used much or not. However obversely everyone has their own ways of doing things and differing views.

P.S. Another thought (while only minor) is: Spaces is controlled by trackpad/magic mouse or keyboard shortcuts where as minimise is controlled by mouse click. So if you don't have trackpad you still have two options to work with depending on which you find works best for you.

Full screen apps are in their own space. Just swipe to get back to your desktop.

As i stated in my previous posts, not everybody has a trackpad or magic mouse.

Also whether people use the feature or not is beside the point in my opinion. Why not keep it uniform. Or why not just put all apps into spaces then. If they are going to have a minimise function and spaces, then have minimise function and spaces available to use always not almost always.

Everybody DOES have a keyboard command, or a mission control icon in their dock, or just doesn't use full screen mode.

Most people do.

All MacBook Pro/Air comes with a trackpad. All iMacs come with a Magic Mouse.

Yeah, this feature wouldn't make any sense.

I understand you wanting to keep things uniform, but it doesn't need to be.

Another example of things not being uniform:

Apps in fullscreen mode can be closed with Red X button, however when iTunes is in fullscreen mode you can't. You can only press green button to exit fullscreen and then press Red button... or of course iTunes > Quit.

Also if you drag or zoom an application window to preferred size the next time you open that app it will remember your preferred size. However this does not happen with the Finder. The window is always small and can only be toggled between small and medium using option + green button or simply the green button to enter fullscreen. You can drag the screen to resize but next time you open the finder the window will be small again.
