Hey guys,

I just picked up a new Core 2 Duo MacBook yesterday. I seem to be having a weird display issue. The top of the screen seems to flicker ever so slightly when I reduce the brightness down to around or below 50%.

It's so minor, it's almostnot noticeable. It's not nearly as bad as the flicker you can see on some of those YouTube MacBook flicker videos. However, I've had a buddy of mine confirm that he can see it too.

I'm reluctant to return this unit because it is perfect in everyway--no dead pixels, super-quiet, low heat, etc. Perfect except, of course, for this issue.

Suggestions? Should I just consider sending it in for repair?

If it doesnt bother you that much, keep it. Theres a chance you could have something else wrong with it after you send it in, or who knows, maybe it would be a worse display. If it bugs you enough though, send it in, that's what AppleCare is for.

Well, I'm getting really fed up with this. I'm now on my third C2D MacBook and I still don't have a good one! The first I returned because of a cluster of dead pixels on the display. Last night, I decided to return my mildly flickering MacBook. Fortunately, the Genius was nice enough to swap it out, even though it wasn't exhibiting the problem at the time.

So I get it home and load all my software, and wouldn't you know, it starts flickering again! I'm just about convinced that the Charlotte, NC Apple Store got a bad batch of MacBooks. I'm going to be in Jax, FL over the Thanksgiving Holidy, and I've considered returning it again there. Unfortunately, since it's out of state, the manager there said they don't have the kind of leeway that they do with products that were purchased in their store, so they MUST see the problem before they'll exchange it.

At this point, I'm tempted to cut my losses, pay the restocking fee, and go get in line somewhere for a Nintendo Wii. I'm disappointed Apple!
