I have a new Mini 2009 with a 320GB 5400 RPM drive, I have an Hitachi 320Gb 7200 RPM with 16MB Cache and I have made a OSX Boot Partition on the drive and erased it for use as a boot drive. My question is there any software that will mirror my current internal HDD to the external 320 GB HDD so I can pull the internal and swap it, basically just doing plug and play. I hope there is something free out there bc for the one time I will do this, I really do not need to spend the time and $ for it.

Thanks for all your help

just use the Mac's own Disk Utility. I have used it many times to do hard drive upgrades, just clone the new disk from your boot disk then pop and swap.

+1 for Apple's Disk Utility.

Make sure the new drive is partitioned using GUID, with a single Mac OS Extended (journaled) partition. When doing the Restore, check "erase destination" to enable "block copy" (much faster).

I've used it for many years for both bootable backup images, and for transferring to new drives.
