I believe having a mirror finish, stainless steel logo on the MacBook is not a good choice and have no idea why Apple has gone that route. Even though mine has not scratched yet, it developed sparkly looking spots ( like shiny tiny dust particles) that are impossible to remove (believe me I have tried) and can be seen under direct light if it is clean. Stainles steel is also an easy to scratch material, which combined with the mirror finish that makes it easy to see those scratches, is a nightmare. The anodized aluminum finish on the other while can be scratched, hides it well due to its texture. Some of you might say you do not care about the scratches since they are visible only under direct light and up close, but then why do people get upset when they get micro or hairline scratches on their iPhone screens? Those too are only visible under direct light, while the screen is off and clean. So you opt to put a screen protector on it. But there or no such protectors for the Apple logo that can blend in as well as a screen protector on a screen does.

What material would you recommend then? They make clear skins for Macs…
Tinted glass mirror maybe? It would be more resistant. Those clear skins cover the whole back of the screen. and Aluminum would age a different shade than the parts that are not covered. Sort of like when you put a sticker on and after a few years you take it off, the aluminum under is a different color then the rest because it has not aged.
