No need to jailbreak; starting with the iPhone 4S and iPad 3, you can mirror the whole screen to your TV with an Apple TV
BTW, you can do it on the iPad 2 too. (Unfortunately, on the jailbroken iPad 1 / iPhone 4, which can also connect to the ATV and play back videos on it, can't do this with either DisplayOut or with the display-mirror plist hack.)

And yes, this is one of the main things I miss about having my iPhone as my primary. Airplay mirroring to AppleTV rocks!
Too bad it really sucks when gaming. It should really only be used for mostly static content.

You can either purchase an Apple TV or this Lightning HDMI adapter (
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter) to hook up your iPhone to the TV through an HDMI cable. The aTV is probably a better option since it's just about twice the price as the adapter but is much more useful. Plus, you won't need to deal with the HDMI cable and adapter in your phone.
Much more useful, yes, but still delivers far worse footage than even the Lightning connector:
- about 50-70% more lag, making action / racing games impossible to play
- 30p vs. 60p framerate (at most; in practice, can be much lower)
- (even more) reduced resolution (720p vs. 900p)
All this only concerns cases when NOT iOS-native videos are played back but you play a game, mirror the screen or use a media player with software decoding.

I have one of these.

Supports Miracast which works for the most part but the slight input lag could be an issue.
As is with all wireless solutions. Dunno if the lag is higher than with Apple TV, where it's, based on my (pretty much dependable) measurements, between 130 and 150 ms.
