so, bestbuy had a 22" LCD on sale, native resolution 1650x1050

i use mirroring, and my internal LCD only supports 1440x900 obviously, is there anyway to make the mirrored display (22") work at 1650x1050?

it says it is in the display preferences, but i know its not

I use a 24" dell as my primary monitor (1920x1200) and my MBP's display as the extended desktop. If you open your Display Preferences with the monitor attached, under one of the tabs you should be presented with a diagram of both display's and a check box "Clone Desktop". Uncheck the clone desktop checkbox and you be able to choose each display's resolution.

Unfortunately if you'd like to mirror it, they have to share the same resolution (the smaller of the two).

ok well, if i can just use the ext monitor as the primary display that will do what i want..thanks, and im assuming that as soon as i unplug the dvi cable the mbp lcd will resume the job of primary monitor?
