Hello, I know there are a lot of threads covering Airplay Mirroring. Most seem to latch on to key on to your router and wireless network. My issue doesn't seem to be that 'simple' of an answer:

Set-up:
Mid-2011 iMac on Mountain Lion 10.8.3
iPad 1st Gen
Apple TV 3rd Gen

All three of the above run on home wireless network. They are all in the same room.

Anytime I run airplay from the iPad to the Apple TV, it runs perfectly! I watched the Masters last weekend, and stream hockey from NBC app. No issues.

However, it I try to run airplay from the iMac, the stream is jumpy. I'm trying to watch CBS shows from within safari since they show up a week earlier than in the App...plus you can't airplay CBS shows from the iPad anyway.

Seems funny to me that a first gen iPad outperforms a newer iMac. And if this was a 'network' issue, why would the iPad stream any better than the iMac?

Help?!!?

Try to change the channel of your wifi, i did, and i get for all my apple products about the same speed/experience.
On auto channel i was getting like double on my macbook air than my imac or iphone or ipad. I change the channel and i get about the same speed for all

If you cant get it working try using http://www.airparrot.com/ I think it smokes Apples AirPlay implementation on OSX plus it lets you airplay from older Macs that Apple decided to not support for some reason.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I switched the wireless channel and saw no real effect. I didn't really expect one as it worked fine via the iPad and ATV on the same network.

However, installed a trial of Airparrot and it works flawlessly! Guess I don't mind paying the $10 for the capability...but sure is funny that a non-apple software solution works better than the installed capability.
