My macbook has developed a creaky thumping sound when I open it. It's not the hinge, but the lower edge of the display bezel that hits the back of the main unit just when I open it up. I'd prefer not to give it to Apple (bad experiences in the past). Can I adjust the display alignment myself and if so, any advice?

Thanks

Maybe just a visit to the Apple Store would be enough. I certainly wouldn't risk doing it myself.

As far as I can see there are only two screws at the back, but not sure if those are the only ones you need to take out.

The two screws don't seem to do much. I've already tried tightening them slightly, but didn't make a difference. It really is the whole display that is slightly misaligned - one side of the displa in the back sticks out more than the other above the speakers. I was hoping I could open it up and do something easy to fix it, but maybe I should just take it in....

Has anybody tried to re-align the display by themselves? I have no problem opening it up, but I'm just not sure what to do after that....
