I've had the following problem on two separate machines. After the macos 10.12.2 update everything appears fine after install and reboot; however, on the next reboot the documents folder is empty and the machine requires all user input information including icloud UID PW, MS Office ID PW to all be reentered. It seems to be linked to Apples storage optimization and icloud. Any ideas and solution appreciated. Thanks.

You need to turn off Optimize storage. See this article http://tidbits.com/e/16894

Thanks for that link. I find it reprehensible that Apple thought it would be a good idea to cavalierly change settings during an update to their OS. Interestingly, one machine, which had a cloned drive from the other, wasn't deleted by iCloud. I've since fielded about 5 calls from clients complaining of missing files after they updated Sierra.
