Hello everyone. I have a weird case of missing hard disk space and I'm not sure if disk utility is telling the truth or not. I attached pictures to show you what i mean. I am on a Mac Mini 2011 2.5 version.

Ummm you aren't missing any space. The difference is whether you divide 1000 or 1024. If you use the (incorrect) factor of 1000 from Bytes to KB to MB to GB then you will get to 420GB for your OSX partition. If you use the correct factor of 1024 of 419,XXX,XXX,XXX you will get to 390GB. Hard drive manufacturers are constantly confusing people with "lost" hard drive space due to use 1000 instead of 1024....
Edit: 419248103424 B / 1024 = 409421976 KB / 1024 = 399826 MB / 1024 = 390 GB.
This is pretty darn close to the 380GB you are showing.
I think I understand what you are saying, but i'm not sure if you are correct.
My hard drive is 500GB. It is partitioned to Macintosh HD which is 420gb and Bootcamp which is 80gb. On the first image taken from Disk Utility, it shows the capacity of that partition to be 419.25 GB, but when you add the available and used space, you get a total of 380.96 GB. My question is where is my 38.29 GB?

[edit] Also, forgot to add that if System Information and Disk Utility divide differently, then why does one show 28.31GB vs 28.27GB free space which are really close, compared to the difference of the total size of the partition 380.96 GB to 419.25 GB?
