Missing layers in PDF?

Hi,

I hope someone can help me!

A friend has sent me a PDF created in Illustrator CS4, I believe created on his MacBook Pro under Leopard.

When I open that PDF in Preview, or in Fireworks 8 on my iMac (OS X 10.4.11), not all of the image is being shown, it's like some of the layers are not being shown.

If I open the PDF in Acrobat Viewer on a XP machine, all of the image is there.

What gives?

well I just installed Adobe Reader 9 and this shows all the image... there must be something wrong with OS X PDF capabilities?

I think Preview has issues with transparency effects. I've noticed similar issues many times before.
