I was in CompUsa Tuesday Evening the 5th. I don't know if this means anything, but when I made my way over to the Apple section I noticed the usual 15" Macbook Pro display on the end cap. The 15" Macbook Pro was not there. It was gone except for the display materials. Could this mean that they are ready to roll out the Merom based models? Could it mean a design change? Has anyone else noticed the missing 15" Macbook Pro?

K

P.S. - The 17" was still displayed on the shelf with the macbooks

There's no reason to take down a display model the day before a new model arrives. Why not clear out old inventory? Besides, they can just as easily take it down the same day Meroms are shipped, if they wanted to.

I doubt that CompUSA is the place to go for the more recent news concerning MBPs.

Are you saying the Core 2 Duo is making it's appearance in the Macbook Pro today? Actually there is a good reason to do that. Maybe they already cleared their inventory and didn't order anymore from their own distribution. If you have ever worked in retail and you get people inquiring about a display of something that you are out of, things can get nasty. So the easiest thing to do is take down the display. Especially, if there is a design change. Why would you display the old design?

Yes, you are probably right. Who said I was going there for news? I was just thinking, as a mac retailer, they receive certain information about the products they sell in their stores which could be an indication of an update.
