Missing quick access to last app?

I didn't notice until yesterday, on my air2 on 11.2 beta 2 I don't have the shortcut in the top left screen to go back to the last app used. Is this a bug or is there some new way we are supposed to go back to the last app used? I really miss this, I used to be able to go from safari to youtube and back again easily, now it seems like I have to close youtube and reopen safari.

That only shows up if a link you click on one app opens up another. But you can also just four finger swipe to change apps any time.

I didn't know about the 4 finger swipe, but it doesn't work at all anymore for my air2.
