Ok, I added some new folders to my background preference pane and in the process I lost the ability to pick the size of the background( ie the pull down menu that lets you choose 'Fill screen', 'Fit to screen', 'center', and 'tile'.)

Now all I did was add three Folders to the list in /System/Library/PreferencePanes/DesktopScreenEffectsPref.prefPane/ Contents/Resources/DesktopPictures.prefPane/Contents/Resources/Collections.plist

Everything else works as normal, the new folders show and the odd thing is, the only folder that still shows the pull down menu is for backgrounds in my "Pictures Folder" (The one that grabs pictures from well, your pictures folder :p )

So Id really like to get this pull down menu back? does anyone have any idea what happened or how to fix this? I reverted it back to the original Collections.plist file that I backed up prior to editing but it didn't bring back the menu so I can't figure out what went wrong there.

Yeah it is odd, I forgot to mention that I did edit the Collections.strings file as well to match up the identifiers from the Collections.plist file. These were the only 2 files that I modified. I also replaced both files with the originals that I saved before modifying them and the problem still persists, so this has me a bit boggled.

well I think you aren't getting that menu because images aren't smaller then your screen-size... just a guess but the menu will disappear when I have images larger then my screen size.

Is this in the Desktop & Screen Saver pane? I don't have a menu either.

Yes, in the Desktop & Screen Saver preference panel, when you click on a picture, right under where the name of the picture showed up, a menu should appear which lets you choose how the background should be displayed (ie 'Stretch to fill screen', 'center', and the like.) This used to appear for every picture in every folder that was in the desktop preference pane, but now it is only appearing for the pictures in the 'Picture Folder' Folder.

No that can't be it I don't think, because I still have the same backgrounds I had from yesterday and now suddenly I don't have the menu that I used to. Also I have backgrounds that range from like 800x600 all the way up to 2560 x 1600.
