I updated my 15 Pro Max to iOS 18 on Monday morning when it dropped. Last night, I was texting with my son, who lives in another city and has an Android phone. This morning, I fired up Messages on my iMac, and I can see a response from him from last night on my iMac that never showed up on my phone. We have texted back and forth again this morning, but that one message from him from last night still isn't showing on my phone. Restarted the phone, didn't help. It makes me nervous that I might be missing messages and wouldn't know, unless I noticed on another device. Anyone else notice anything similar?

I sometimes have the same now, since upgrading to iOS 18 and Sequoia (betas and now RC) but the other way around.

I have messages on my phone that don't sync to my Mac.

The workaround is to go into iMessage settings on the Mac and click "sync now" then iCloud Settings on the phone and under messages do the same. A few minutes later (after closing and re-opening the app) and it's fine. Also, if you don't notice/care it usually sorts itself out after a day.

It's stupid. Despite the tiny amounts of data involved, iCloud sync has never worked flawlessly since iCloud was developed years ago. It took a few years for text shortcuts to sync, and people still have delays with Notes and Photos syncing. And now we don't even get iMessages syncing all the time.
