Mission Control mess

Let's say that I'm working with a lot of apps in fullscreen mode. If I quit the last one at the right (last space), the view will move automatically to the first space, i.e. my empty desktop. However, what I want to see next is the following app at the left of the one that I closed, not Finder.

Is there a way to solve that?

While I wouldn't exactly define that as a "mess," I would agree that mission control suffers from a poorly thought out experience. If you are on a desktop space, invoking mission control exposés the windows in that space and it remains the active space. If invoke it on a full screen app, it shrinks the app to the top region and shows you your first desktop, making that the active space, which is spatially confusing if you then swipe to change spaces, as you are now moving relative to a space you weren't even in.

long story short, you either have to adapt and accept all its weird design choices, or as I have had to do increasingly, revert back to archaic application switching methods like the dock and command tab.

Bad thing. I was hoping that there could be some hack to modify that annoying behavior. However my issue has more to do with quitting apps in fullscreen mode rather than invoking Mission Control from some specific space.
