My jailbroken and unlocked 3GS froze last weekend and I could not reboot. In a panic I mistakenly let ITunes restore--now instead of having OS 3.1.2 I am at official 3.1.3 which I can not jailbreak using either pwnage or blackrain----how can I get back to my old status? I bought my fone in New York City in September from the Apple store and got and then cancelled my ATT contract. paying required cancellation fees.
I believe Cydia has a signature for my fone but I am not sure (1.) how to insert AND save "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" in the hosts file on my new Snow Leopard IMac and (2.) even if successful how to get Cydia to restore to 3.1.2
This is my 2d IPhone-bought the original 3G in Istanbul a year ago, had it stolen in New York in September, then bought my 3GS fone at the NYC Apple store had it jailbroken and brought it back to Istanbul where I now live and work.
I want to use my Turkish sim card---otherwise I have an expensive IPod without cellfone or internet ability.

Why 2 threads on this ? I replied on your other thread.

Sadly there is no way to unlock your phone. If you can downgrade using Saurik's signature server, then you will be able to jailbreak. But for the foreseeable future there will be no way to unlock it.

Well... Technically... He bought out his AT&T contract so he can get an offical unlock from apple.. He just can't jailbreak until the new jailbreak comes out

No he cannot. I don't know where you get that idea, but neither AT&T nor Apple will unlock an AT&T phone, no matter what the contract status. iPhones bought in the US are never officially unlocked.

He was hoping for a different answer?

Just Too Funny ! :D :) ;) :p

Where do people get these ideas ? Just because o2 and Orange unlock, sadly we in the US are not that fortunate.

Actually, if getting unlocked in the US were available just by early termination and paying the fee, I would be the first in line with both of our 3GS phones.
