Team,
Good morning! Im new to the whole idea of being able to self-upgrade many components of the Mac Pro and am really excited for it. My Mac Pro order is still processing but per the general advice on this forum, have ordered some of the RAM sticks from the third party. Unfortunately due to availability, I had to mix and match brands. This is what I have ordered
Micron 32GB DDR4 PC4-2933Y 2Rx4 ECC RDimm 288 pin x3 sticks
SK Hynix 32GB DDR4 PC4-2933Y 2RX4 ECC RDimm 288 pin x2 sticks
Kingston 32GB DDR4 PC4-2933Y 2RX4 ECC RDimm 288 pin x1 stick
The three different memory sticks all appear to have the same specifications so I'm hoping this will be okay.
Since I ordered the base RAM configuration, I was also wondering if I could use the included 4x8GB sticks in addition without too much of a performance hit. Based on the apple support document, it looks like using 10 sticks is supported, but have also read that mixing capacities may produce a performance hit.
Thanks in advance!
