Mixing RAM sizes on new MBP.

Hello,

I just bought my new MBP 2.2Ghz, 2GB Ram a couple of weeks ago. My question is I am considering upgrading the memory but since it only has 2 slots and there are 2x1gb chips, I was thinking of just doing 1x2GB chip and leaving the other 1GB chip giving me a total of 3GB ram. It's been a while and I want to make sure if you can mix and match RAM sizes with this MBP.

I'm running Leopard and I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Vmware, web, & itunes and I think I could benefit from the extra ram 1GB of RAM.

Pretty much I can get any brand memory as long as it meets the 200pin So-DIMM DDR2 667Mhz PC2-5300. Doesn't have to be special model for Macs right??

As long as it meets those specification it should work.

Your mileage may vary on guaranteed compatibility. I've used Patriot in my iMac just fine.

What is the technology that benefits from matching RAM? Something about 700MB advanatage?
