That's a question I've not encountered before, but I would assume that it would be better that they match.

Hi,

I am considering getting an 8gb card alongside my preinstalled 2gb card.

The 2 gb card is 1.5 volts, and the crucial 8gb ram is 1.35 volts.

Will they work together.

I think it will be ok.

Apple warns that having non-matched (in size, not voltage) DIMMs will cause a slight performance hit. I think it's probably worth it to obtain 10GB of RAM.

The 8gb will just run at 1.5v without an issue.
