Mixing RAM

I'd like to add a second stick of RAM to my Sawtooth G4, which supports pc100 and pc133 RAM. I believe the RAM it came with was pc100, and the other stick I have is pc133. Will something horrible happen if I have both speeds of RAM in my computer, even if they are both supported?

I could be wrong, but I believe that if you combine speeds, the faster stick will only operate at the speed of the slower one. Other than that, you should be okay. I know there's a bunch of people who know a lot more about RAM than I do here though, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Some people believe that a machine is less stable when you are mixing speeds -- it depends mostly if the PC133 is programmed properly to operate at 100 MHz as well as 133. Also, a significant number of new PC133 modules that use high density chips 4 or 8 chips per module) are not compatible with the G4's, which require an 8-chip 256 or a 16-chip 512 Mb DIMM.

Thanks for the help. I expect it will be basically compatible and reliable because it's been in G4 systems before, but I guess I have no way to tell if it's been "programmed properly?" The RAM is originally from Kensington. Might that make a difference?
